Progress Notes from Ray...

12/29/2010 - OK...I took a long vacation from Family Genealogy. I am back and finding some time to update the web site and work on a new family reunion. I am also rearing to go on a huge update project. I will be sending out a update letter to each family head of household. This includes anyone over 18 and have moved out of their parent's home. Watch for this letter in the first quarter of 2011. Also, a new Harsin Happen'n's newsletter will b e sent out the first quarter of 2011. A lot has happened with me since August 2010. I have started with a new Contracting firm named maxIT Healthcare LLC. I am still consulting as an education consultant in the healthcare industry. I am just with a different consulting company based out of Indiana. I still live in Florida. God has been good to me. :)

6/9/2010 - I know, I know...been slacking off on the web site. The main reason has been my work. It has been keeping me very busy. I have also been under the weather for the past two weeks. I have been keeping up with most of my email replies concerning family history. I have managed to get an 16 page letter out to the descendants and their families for the Leon Harsin family reunion to be held this Aug 7th. I sent 70 such letters concerning the details and asking for help on missing people and information about family members that have passed away. I plan to finish the next edition of the Harsin Happen'n's newsletter this weekend and have it sent out June 16th. If you do not think I have your address, please let me know and I will make sure you have a copy sent to you.

4/7/201 - It has been a while since I have given you an update to what I have been doing with the family tree. I have not been working very much with the Web site this past month. I have been answering letters from the mailbox. I also work the Faebook account adding pictures and stories there. I invite you to join Facebook and add Tree Harsin as a friend so you can also see the posts. I will try to get the same pictures on this Web site as soon as I can. I have also been getting responses form my update letters I sent out last month and updating my records with the information being sent to me. I do wish to thank everyone who helps me by sending back the information I am requesting! This is what makes it fun for me and fun for future generations. Especially the historic stories I get from everyone! I am beginning to organize the next newsletter. It should be mailed in July. Start sending me the stories you have about the family of yester years so we can tell the whole family!! I anticipate a great newsletter with YOUR help!

3/9/2010  - The newsletter was sent this past week. If you are on my mailing list, you should be getting it between March 9 and March 14th. If you do not get it, let me know! I also sent out some update letters out to about 20 folks. I do this about every 4 weeks. Sometime through a year's time, you should get an update letter from me asking you to give me updated information and verify the information I do have. I have been keeping busy. The genealogy project is keeping busy several hours a day. On top of my work load, this about takes up all my time. I enjoy it so much. I hope many others can take advantage of this time I  put into this project.

2/20/2010 - I can tell you that most people I talk to are ready for Spring! Many have had so much more snow this year than average. I am traveling and trying to by-pass snow storms with each weekly trip.  The newsletter will be sent out this next week. So will February Update Letters. I have posted new obituaries to the web site and have been answering email. I have also posted a few nice pictures that were taken as early as 1913 of some Harsin family members that lived on a the homestead farm in Iowa. These photos can be found on the Tree Harsin Facebook profile. I will make a page that every one can see these photos from this webiste, too. Keep the pictures coming folks. Also, when you send the pictures, give me some story about the picture!

2/10/2010 - I am currently finishing the final touches to the Harsin Happen'n's newsletter. I hope to have it mailed within the week. I am also getting letters ready to go out to about 30 families for update information. These should be mailed out by week's end. I just added an obituary for Myrtle E Gruenewald Harsin to the Obituary page on the web site. I am currently working my job in New Hampshire where we just missed getting hit with the huge snow storm. I will be traveling home to Florida this weekend and then Sunday, back out to Cleveland, OH.

Welcome to a website I created to share the research I have completed on the Harsin family.  My interest began back in 1973 when my father, Harold Harsin, received a letter in the mail from another Harsin that lived in Topeka, Kansas, J.D. Harsin. When I read the letter, it sparked interest. Where and when did the first Harsin come to the USA, How many folks have the last name Harsin and how are they related, How am I related to all the people with the last name of Harsin, How are all the Harsins related to one another?  My search to answer these questions began! I have been working on and off, sometimes working as if I had two full time jobs, just on this project. Other times, I did nothing for several years. I have to admit, once I found out some facts about the father of my research subject, Garret Harsin, I was a little discouraged to continue my research. However, my interest has sparked again, and I am now going to place my efforts toward producing this website for the sharing of my findings with the family. I intend to make a portion of this website a secure section for descendants of Garret Harsin. At this point, all pages on this site are public.  I encourage your comments and recommendations for building this website. Please feel free to contact me. If you see anything that is incorrect, please contact me. I hope you enjoy the site. It is my desire that this information will be shared to many generations to come.

Sincerely,

Raymond (Ray) Eugene Harsin
